I recently upgraded my iMac to Mac OS Sierra (10.12) and can not seem to get the scan to computer to work. I have reinstalled the most current version of the HP software for my printer several times. Restarted the computer and printer several times and it will not work. When initiating Scan to Computer I get an error "Sacan to Computer Cannot Be Enabled: The HP software required for your Computer could not be located on this computer. Please dwonload and install the latest HP recommended software for your device......... . This feature has worked fine in the past. When I follow the link to HP drivers for my printer the driver it takes me to is HP Easy Start 2.4.0.125 5.4 MB September 28, 2016. Is there a fix to correct this?

Hi Breezy52,
I wanted to stop in and add my comments as @HevnLgh is out of the office currently.
I have checked the drivers on the hp.com site for your Officejet 8610. There are no full feature drivers and software available for Sierra. I am unsure if or when they will be however, you can check the site periodically to see if they get released.
Until then you will not be able to scan using HP software and will have to continue using your work around option. I understand this is not a full solution however, I hope this information helps.

Hello @Breezy52,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you have recently upgraded your Mac OS to Sierra 10.12 and now you are unable to Scan.
1. What is the Exact model of HP Printer you are using?
2. Are you still able to print?
3. How are you able to scan using the HP Software?
Take a look here and make sure no steps were missed: Network Scanner Connection is Lost (Mac)
I will watch for your reply.

The wireless connection to the printer works fine for printing. I can even get the scanner to function by going to Preferences and selecting the printer (I deleted and added as your link suggested) and then selecting scan. This enables single page scanning to work. If I open the HP Utility program and select Scan to Computer it tries to retrieve information and then a dialog box indicates Scan to Computer Cannot Be Enabled. It further states I should download and install teh latest software for my printer which I have done several times. My objective is for Scan to Computer to work. It has worked in the past but not since upgrading my OS or teh drivers.
As I mentioned before I recently upgraded my iMac OS to the most recent version as well as the HP drivers.
My printer is an HP Officejet Pro 8610
Serial number CN477CW2QY
Product number A7F64A
Service ID 24250
Firmware version FDP1CN1527AR
The version of Essential Software the HP Easy Start program is installing is version 4.6.0.102
The version of HP Easy Scan being installed is 1.5.0.12
Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you for the requested information. I want you to take a look at the Apple Support site for the drivers: Printer and scanner software for macOS Sierra
You should also try using the Easy Scan 1.6.0 version as that has been working for other users running Sierra.
Any changes?
Let me know the outcome. If this resolves the issue please let others know by marking this post as "Accept as Solution". To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" up button. If you require further assistance let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help.

I have the same problem but with a HP x476dw MFP. Once upgraded to Sierra, I cannot use the scan to computer feature. I installed HP Easy Scan 1.6.0 but I get an error witn an OK button:
Scanner reported an error. An error occurred while communicating with the scanner.
So far, no succes

Yes that is correct, I do not believe you are using the current one available which also for printing and scanning. There was a link to the software on the Apple support site in the link I previously sent.

The link takes me to the same page I got for "upgrading" my software which is to download and run the "Easy Start" program. That program wants to download and install the latest version. I can not find a link to a web page that would allow me to download a previous version of the software. Am I miising something?
