HP OfficeJet 9019

Scan  to email has stopped working.  I used it a few weeks ago and it worked fine. I have been trying for a few days to use it and I keep getting a  message that says:  Error on SMTP e-mail server. The server is down or busy. Try again later. The settings are working on a different OfficeJet.  Any  help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @Admin-Kap,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When encountering issues with scanning to email on your HP OfficeJet 9019, and the error message indicates a problem with the SMTP server, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check SMTP Server Status: Verify that the SMTP server you are using is operational. You can do this by trying to send an email from another device or checking with your email provider for any known issues.
  • Verify Email Settings: Double-check the email settings configured on your HP OfficeJet 9019. Ensure that the SMTP server address, port number, authentication method, username, and password are all correctly entered. Even a small mistake in these settings can cause the scan to email feature to fail.
  • Network Connection: Ensure that the printer is connected to the network properly and has access to the internet. You can try restarting both your printer and network router to refresh the connection.
  • Firewall or Security Software: Sometimes, firewall or security software settings can block the printer from accessing the SMTP server. Check your firewall settings and antivirus software to ensure that they are not interfering with the printer's communication.
  • Firmware Update: Make sure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues and improve performance.
  • Test with Different SMTP Server: If possible, try using a different SMTP server to see if the issue persists. This can help determine whether the problem lies with the specific server you are using or with the printer itself.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the problem with scanning to email on your HP OfficeJet 9019.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hey Alden,

i already checked everything you mentioned.

We also had a older HP Printer. A OfficeJet 87XX i think.

The older Printer is in the same network, with the same settings but works.

The newer one stopped working. I also tried to reset the printer and add the settings manuelly but the printer still doesnt work.

Have you got any more ideas?
