My scanner doesn't seem to scan certain colors properly. Like, they don't scan true to the colors they are in the image. I saw a thread with someone else having this same problem with the same printer from a few years ago, and it doesn't seem like the problem was ever resolved in that thread. Now that it's a few years later, I'm wondering if someone has any new suggestions.

The color orange in particular seems to be an issue. It scans as red. I've tried color correcting in Photoshop, but unfortunately I can't ever get it close to the original. It's a bigger problem when it's scanned alongside other colors as well, as it's hard to color correct specific patches. As an artist, I need my colors to be scanned as is without wasting extra time fixing it all in post.

I don't know if the solution is just to buy a new scanner, but I'd prefer not to since the printer and scanner are otherwise in great working condition. There's no option to choose the color scale upon scanning so I'm not sure how the colors scan in. I'm assuming RGB.

@Jessie_P, Welcome to HP Support Community!

What happens when you make photocopies? Do they have print quality issues too?

If copy samples are good follow the steps below-

Are you using the HP Easy Scan? If yes, try the Apple Image Capture and see if that helps. Refer to the document HP Printers - How to Scan (Mac) for help.

Also, ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Try scanning.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
