C4580 Photosmart
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, My C4580 is producing three vertical while lines down the centre when I scan images.  I have cleaned the glass and white backing - to no effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your attempt at helping with my problem.  It appears that the only answer is to replace the machine with a new one.

HP?  Perhaps not.

Hi! @PNEFC, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!

I understand you have scanning issues with your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Please try few steps recommended below.

Clean the scanner glass and underside of the scanner lid with a soft, lint-free cloth sprayed with glass cleaner.

1.Turn the printer off, then disconnect the power cord.

2.Lift the scanner lid.

3.Spray a soft, lint-free cloth with glass cleaner, then wipe the scanner glass, glass strip (if present), the white backing under the scanner lid, and the white strip under the lid (if present) until clean, dry, and streak-free.

caution:

To protect the interior printer parts, do not spray the cleaner directly on the glass or on the underside of the lid.

4.Reconnect the power cord, turn on the printer, then close the scanner lid completely.

5.Load the original document or photo, then try to scan. Make sure the original document or photo is in good condition and free of tears, creases, folds, staples, or tape.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot scan quality issues.

Many thanks for your reply.  Unfortunately (after following all of your suggestions) the proplem remains and the three white vertical lines appeat each tine I scan - either to printer or to file.

The C4580 doesn`t have the glass strip so the only maintenance I am able to carry out is the cleaning of the glass and white backing on the lid.    Regards
Jim.
