I just opened a new printer and attempted set up. It scanned alignment page and screen said printhead problems. I’ve tried hard resets and everything and the screens continues to be stuck on that error message with no options to get out. Will just return if I can’t get help

Hi @Petermcadams, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your new printer is having trouble recognizing the printhead. Try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Check if the Printhead is Installed Correctly
- If your printer has a removable printhead, ensure it is seated properly.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the ink access door and check that the printhead latch is securely closed.
- Remove and reseat the printhead if necessary.
Clean the Printhead Contacts
- Turn off and unplug the printer.
- Remove the ink cartridges and then the printhead (if removable).
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the copper contacts on the printhead and inside the printer.
- Let it dry completely before reinserting.
Try a Different Power Source
- Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet, avoiding power strips.
- Perform a hard reset: Unplug the printer while it's turned on, wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Use Original HP Ink Cartridges
- If non-HP cartridges were installed, try using original HP cartridges.
Update Firmware
- If you can access any menu options, check for a firmware update through the HP Smart app or HP’s support website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
