Just changed my HP ink cartridges. First I got vertical lines in a photo I tried to print on photo paper. Then after looking for ways to correct I noted when printing words I get a shadow on the words printed. I need to get this corrected so I can print postage for packages soon. Any help will be very welcomed and appreciated. The shadows bother me most.

I tried the Fixing Print Quality Issues solutions. Didn't really work. I ended up changing out the "new" cartridges for 2 more. "new" cartridges. That stopped the shadows and the lines as well. I was concerned about cleaning, afraid from the warnings given about being so careful. So I wasted 2 cartridges, though I'll try each of the 1st cartridges separately at some point.

Hi @von70348,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Genuine HP Ink cartridges carry their own warranty. It is possible that it may have been a defective cartridge issue. If the cartridges were new they are linkely in warranty. The warranty date is stamped on the side of each cartridge.

HP Tech Support will replace in warranty cartridges if they are found to be defective.

What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number

Case number and phone number appear.
