I had previously set up a 4 digit pin number to sign in to my printer's control panel, but it is currently not excepting my pin. How do I overcome this?

Greetings @dooglaa_smith

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you set a pin for the printer and it is no longer accepting it, is that right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Have you tried to access the EWS page of the printer on your computer?

Recommend you capture the IP address of the printer.

Open any browser on your computer.

Enter the IP address of the printer and hit enter.

This would bring up the EWS page of the printer on your computer screen.

You can try to change the password using the EWS page of the printer.

Check under security or administration option on the EWS page.

Have you tried to restart your printer?

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

       NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

  9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Please click here to download the user guide of your printer.

Refer to page number 146 and perform a factory restore and check.

Let me know if this helped.
