I have just bought this. Printing for the first time. It is printing so slowly. My old canon is so much faster. Can anyone help? I have seen all the steps to take to make it faster but none work

Hi @Irishgirl1978, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Your new printer is printing at a snail's pace? That's definitely not the speedy experience you were hoping for! Let's try to inject some pep into its printing process.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Print Quality: Ensure the print quality isn't set to the highest setting unless necessary. High-quality printing can significantly slow down the process.
  • Draft Mode: Try printing in draft mode to see if it speeds up the printing process.

Update Drivers and Firmware:

  • Drivers: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
  • Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve performance.

Check Connectivity:

  • USB Connection: If you’re using a USB connection, try using a different USB cable or port on your PC.
  • Network Connection: If you’re using a network connection, ensure your printer is connected to the network properly. A weak Wi-Fi signal can cause slow printing. Try moving the printer closer to the router or using an Ethernet connection if possible.

Printer Spooler Settings:

  • Restart Print Spooler: Sometimes, restarting the print spooler service can resolve slow printing issues. To do this:
    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Find the "Print Spooler" service, right-click on it, and select "Restart".

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
