Smart Tank 580 , Page prints half a page and continues next half on a new piece of paper,

I am copying an image and pasted to be printed  in on Windows Word, Excel Powerpoint and they give me the same result.

I tried copying different images on multiple pages and only the last one gets truncated and splits in 2 printed pages

I have wasted more than 20 sheets of paper printing the same page and it comes out half on 1 side and the other half on another, i am using landscape

Hi @TLK84

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP Smart Tank 580 is printing only half a page and continuing the next half on a new sheet of paper, the issue may be related to print settings or the document preparation.

Here are several steps to troubleshoot and address the problem:

Check Print Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper size set in your document matches the size loaded in the printer. You can adjust this in Word, Excel, PowerPoint from ("File" > "Print" > "Printer Properties" > "Paper Size").
  • Confirm that the orientation (Portrait or Landscape) matches your document’s setup.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP Smart Tank 580. Visit the HP Support site to download and install the latest drivers if necessary.

Scaling and Margins:

  • Check if scaling options are correctly set. Sometimes the scaling settings are responsible for the discrepancy in the print.
  • Review the margins within your document to ensure they are not causing the document to print across multiple pages.

Printer Queue Settings:

  • Occasionally, printer queue settings can interrupt normal printing processes. Clear existing print jobs from the queue and restart your printer and computer.

Recreate the Document:

  • Try copying and pasting the images into a new document to see if the problem persists. This can sometimes refresh settings and avoid document corruption.

Print Quality and Page Size:

  • Adjust the print quality settings (low quality may affect document output) and verify that the page size settings match the requirements of your printer.

Test with a Different Document:

  • To ensure the issue isn't with the image file itself, try printing a different document to see if it prints correctly. This helps isolate whether the issue is with specific document setup or the printer.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure there are no software conflicts where multiple applications might interfere with the printing process, such as antivirus or firewall settings blocking communication.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, additional support from HP's phone support team may be necessary to diagnose potential hardware problems with your printer.
