After power blinked 6-7 times we lost all power. Once it was restored we reset our router with a new password. We turned on the Smart Tank and now my computer says its not on. I need to reset the password (I think) but can't move  because it keeps telling me to turn the printer on. The wi-fi is flashing with an ! When I open HP Smart it used to say off line but I have tried so many times to get it to connect it no longer says anything. Not READY not OFF LINE, nothing.

@kahomes, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Oh no — I can totally see how that power outage and Wi-Fi change turned everything upside down! 😞 When the printer’s Wi-Fi light is flashing with an exclamation mark (!) and your computer says the printer isn’t on (even though it is), that usually means the printer is no longer connected to your Wi-Fi network and is stuck in limbo.

Don’t worry —we’ll get you reconnected step-by-step.

1. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

We’ll erase the old Wi-Fi info and start fresh.

On your HP Smart Tank printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button together for 5 seconds until the power light blinks.

This resets the network settings and puts the printer into Wi-Fi setup mode.

2. Use HP Smart App to Reconnect

Refer to this guide to set up the printer using the HP Smart app: HP printer setup (HP Smart app) | HP® Support

Reference for wifi setup: HP printer setup (Wi-Fi network) | HP® Support

3. Still Not Showing Up in HP Smart?

Use this backup method:

On your computer or phone, go to your Wi-Fi settings.

Connect to the printer’s temporary Wi-Fi signal — it’ll look like:
HP-Setup-SmartTank-XXXX

Then open a web browser and go to:
http://192.168.223.1(get the ip address by printing a network configuration page from the printer)

Use this setup page to connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi.

4. Once Connected

The Wi-Fi light on the printer should stop flashing and stay solid.

Go back to HP Smart, and it should now show your printer as Ready.

If it doesn’t, just remove and re-add the printer in HP Smart.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
