I have an hp Envy printer. I set it up and everything looks good. When I go to print it tells me the printer is paused. Everything looks ready to go!

Hi @Nigel211,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check the Print Queue

Sometimes a paused printer state is due to a job that is stuck in the print queue:

  1. On your computer, navigate to the "Devices and Printers" section via the Control Panel or Settings.
  2. Find your HP Envy printer and double-click to open the print queue window.
  3. Look for any pending print jobs. If jobs are paused, in processing, or stuck, try clearing them:
    • Right-click on the jobs and select "Cancel" or "Resume."

Restart the Printer and Computer

Restarting both devices can often resolve many connectivity issues:

  1. Turn off your HP Envy printer and disconnect it from power, then reconnect and power it back on.
  2. Restart your computer and try printing again.

Verify Printer Status

Ensure that your printer is online and not inadvertently set to "Use Printer Offline" mode:

  1. Open the print queue from "Devices and Printers".
  2. Click on "Printer" in the menu bar.
  3. If "Use Printer Offline" is checked, click on it to uncheck.

Update Drivers and Software

Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause communication issues between your computer and printer:

  1. Visit the HP Support Drivers page and search for your specific HP Envy model.
  2. Download and install the latest printer drivers and software.

Check Network Connectivity

If you are using a network connection:

  1. Ensure the Wi-Fi signal is strong and your devices are properly connected.
  2. Reconfigure the network settings or reconnect the printer to the network if necessary.

Reset the Printing System (For Mac Users)

If using a Mac, resetting the printing system can fix many printer connectivity issues:

  1. Open "System Preferences" and select "Printers & Scanners".
  2. Right-click (or Ctrl-click) in the list of printers on the left.
  3. Select "Reset printing system..." and confirm. Re-add your HP Envy printer.

I hope this helps.
