HP Color LaserJet CP3525n Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a CP3525n that has served me well for years. Recently, it got the dreaded 59.f0 error. I was able to fix this by replacing the fuser drive assembly. Now, however, the Cyan channel is not printing as it should. Printed Cyan is light and mottled. See attached files.

I have done the following:

Enter diagnostic mode.

Disable cartridge check.

Swap Magenta and Cyan cartridges.

Reprint the diagnostics page(s).

The "light mottled" print now shows up in the Cyan channel and the Cyan prints perfectly in the Magenta channel.

SO. the problem resides in the printer itself, not the cartridge.

Where do I go from here?  Could the ITB be bad?

Is this even worth fixing?  Any help/advice would be appreciated. (And, yes, I know I need another Magenta cartridge.)

There are a couple of things that come to mind. You could have a dirty or bent contact in the cyan cartridge slot. These are thin paper clip like wires that transfer charges from the high voltage board to the cartridge. It could also be a dirty lens in the laser assembly that is reducing the amount of light reaching the photo sensitive drum.

Worth fixing? Only if you can do the work yourself, in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply and the information. Will check the contacts again. I wiped them with 99 percent alcohol but maybe I missed one.

Where is that lens you mentioned located? I have the service manual so I can use that to help.

The printer still works well for black and white, so I may just relegate it to that use. Its a shame though. Up until the 59.f0 error showed up, it was working flawlessly.

Thanks again!

The lens are in the laser scanner assembly, you will find no information beyond how to remove as this is considered a replace on fail item, but if the lens are dirty you can clean them CAREFULLY as the lens are plastic and easily scratched.

Checked out the laser lens. Clean as a whistle.

Wiped the HV contacts for the cyan channel again but that didn’t help.

Thanks.
