HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer

I have an Officejet 9015 all in one printer and I am enrolled in the Instant Ink program.  I was having trouble with print spooling  and used the HP Scan Doctor do a cold reset which resulted in a restart. During the restart process, the printer spooling problem was fixed, except the restart requires a realignment and the printer wouldn't print the alignment page. The ink cartridges that were in the printer kept giving an error message that the cartridges required an HP Instant Ink account, which I already have, so I didn't understand the problem. The printer was stuck on printing the alignment page. I couldn't go any further. I have been stuck on this problem for two days. I have tried all the fixes through HP Smart and Scan Doctor. No help. Now if I want further assistance, I have to pay for it because my warranty expired yesterday 12/31/22.  I find it disconcerting that my printer problems began on the VERY DAY that my warranty expired!!  I am not in a position to pay for open ended assistance, so my very last resort, I took out the cartridges and replaced them with new cartridges from my HP Instant Ink account.  Halleluiah!! Thank you to the printer gods! I don't believe it was that simple.  I have seen multiple posts regarding this same problem.  Try replacing the ink cartridges with new cartridges, and maybe just maybe, the printer gods are smiling on you too!!!!

Thank you so much for posting this!  I tried taking all the cartridges out and putting in same ones because I didn't have all the replacements.  It worked!!!  Yay!  Hours of trying different solutions and  researching and tech support ...  and then this simple solution.  Thank you!!!

Remove the sheets of paper from the printer so that the printer does not start printing the alignment pages. Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON. Disconnect any other cables if connected to the printer. Press and hold the printer's power button for 15 seconds
