Hi @JAM60555
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If you experience a "Supply System Problem" error after installing a new black cartridge in your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, follow these troubleshooting steps:
Step 1: Check the Cartridge
Open the Cartridge Access Door: Slip your fingers into the slot on the left side of the printer and pull forward to open the door.
- Wait for the Carriage to Idle: The carriage will move to the left; wait until it is idle and silent.
Remove and Inspect the Cartridge:
- Push in on the front of the cartridge to release it, then pull it out from its slot.
- Check for Glue Residue: Ensure there is no glue residue blocking the ink supply hole.
- If glue residue is present, it can obstruct ink flow. Remove any residue before proceeding.
Reinsert the Cartridge:
- Carefully replace the cartridge in its slot and push forward until it clicks into place.
- Close the cartridge access door and try printing again.
Step 2: Replace the Cartridge If Necessary
If the error persists despite following the steps above:
- Contact HP Support:
- You may need to replace the cartridge under warranty. Visit HP Customer Support to check warranty status and request cartridge replacement.
- For any further errors or issues, updating your printer's firmware could help. For firmware updates, refer to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.
Step 3: Replace the Printhead If Recommended
If HP Support indicates a printhead replacement is necessary:
Order a New Printhead: Visit the HP Parts Store to order a new printhead assembly, if it's no longer under warranty.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to identify the correct part number for your printer.
Follow Printhead Replacement Procedures:
- Detailed instructions for replacing the printhead can be found here.
These steps should typically resolve the "Supply System Problem" error
