Hi @HartF04,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Supply system problem" error message on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 Wide Format All-In-One printer indicates an issue with the ink supply system, which could be related to the cartridge you replaced. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
- Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure the new black cartridge is properly installed. Open the printer cover and ensure that the cartridge is securely seated in its slot. Remove and reinsert the cartridge if necessary.
- Clean Contacts: Ink cartridges have metal contacts that communicate with the printer. These contacts can sometimes get dirty or covered in ink residue. Turn off the printer, carefully remove the cartridge, and clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Make sure everything is dry before reinserting the cartridge.
- Restart Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer on and check if the error message persists.
- Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the new cartridge you installed is compatible with your printer model. Using an incompatible cartridge can lead to errors. Double-check the cartridge model number against the printer's specifications.
- Firmware Update: Outdated printer firmware can sometimes cause compatibility issues. Check the HP support website for any available firmware updates for your printer model and install them if needed.
- Reset Printer: Perform a power cycle and reset of the printer. Turn off the printer, disconnect it from the power source, and press and hold the power button for around 30 seconds. Reconnect the power and turn the printer back on.
- Inspect Cartridge: Sometimes, new cartridges can have defects. Inspect the new cartridge for any visible issues, leaks, or damage. If you suspect the cartridge is faulty, contact the retailer or HP support for a replacement.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
