Hi @Eranta, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP Smart Tank 790 printer seems to be stuck in the setup or configuration process. Try the following steps to resolve the issue:

Restart the Printer

  • Unplug the power cable from the printer while it is turned on.
  • Wait for 1-2 minutes.
  • Plug the power cable back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the screen responds.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect all cables, including USB and Ethernet.
  • Hold the Power and Cancel (X) buttons together for 10-15 seconds.
  • Release the buttons and turn the printer back on.

Restart the Setup via HP Smart

  • If the issue started during setup, try restarting it using the HP Smart App:
    • Open HP Smart on your Mac/iPhone/iPad.
    • Delete the printer from the app.
    • Re-add it by selecting Add Printer and following the setup steps.

Update the Printer Firmware (if accessible)

  • If you can access HP Smart App, go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings (EWS) > Firmware Update.
  • If stuck, try updating via a Windows PC if available.

Factory Reset (if possible)

  • If you can access the control panel:
    • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.
    • If the screen is still stuck, try powering off the printer, then holding Wi-Fi + Cancel (X) buttons together while turning it back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
