Hi @Richie64,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Ink Tank 419 printer is showing an “E” error, the printhead lights are orange, and there’s a paper jam. Let’s walk through the exact steps to fix this. You’re doing the right thing by reaching out early.

1. Clear the Paper Jam (E4 Error)

Follow these steps carefully:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the rear access door and remove any jammed paper.
  • Check the input tray and carriage path for stuck paper or debris.
  • Gently clean the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth.

2. Check and Reseat the Printheads

  • Open the top cover and wait for the carriage to stop moving.
  • Gently press down and release the printhead latch.
  • Remove both printheads and inspect for ink buildup or damage.
  • Reinsert them firmly and close the latch.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the printer from power.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.
  • Check if the error clears.

4. Run Printer Diagnostics

HP offers a tool to help identify and fix issues:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
