Day ten (10) and this issue is still unresolved.

Got a callback from HP Today. They said they will not do the regionalization reset. They told me to do a little research and buy a new printer.  Very disappointed in how this was handled. It took ten days for them to say this. This will make a good lesson for my students when school starts up next week.

Anyone know where I can recycle a perfectly good printer.

I uninstalled all of the HP drivers and software from my machine.

I was able to return my genuine HP color ink and recieve a complete refund of $95.

I went to Sam's Club I noticed they had remanufactured ink for my printer under the Member's Mark brand. The box said 100% satisfaction guaranteed. So, I said what do I have to lose? Paid $54 for a triple package of color ink. Popped the ink in the printer and it roared back to life. The print quality is great. Since HP has locked me out of purchasing 100% genuine HP ink, my only solution  will be to buy the remanufactured ink from Sam’s Club in the future.

At best this is likely to be a short term solution.  Remanufactured cartridges are HP cartridges that have been refilled.  If the Sam's Club cartridges were originally HP cartridges from before ~ January 2017 they would be universal and would work in any printer worldwide.  As time goes on these will become rare, and the remanufactured cartridges are likely to be based on Z10 cartridges (in the US).  At that time you will still need to have the regionalization reset.  HP should do this.

I understand and I concur. The voice mail I received from HP told me to buy a new printer. Apparently the folks at HP don’t know how to do it, have been instructed not to do it or just don’t care. Which is just not logical. I have never used anything but HP original ink in my printers. At this point I can’t buy HP original ink because of the firmware upgrade that was pushed by HP that requires regionalized cartridges. The lack of communication to loyal customers created a trap which if I had known I would have avoided. This is the first time I have ever used non HP cartigies, I cringed when I put them in but it worked for now. At this point HP can’t make any money from people in my situation. HP used to be better than this. If you can find someone who knows how to do this I would love to talk with them.
