During a print job, the printer printed a blank page, and then the black print head icon starting flashing on the display. I reset the printer a few times (disconnected from power for 60+ seconds and turned back on), and the problem persisted. I removed the print head, reinserted it, disconnected power, reconnected power, and it is still flashing. Not sure what else to do, and nobody seems to sell black print heads for this printer.

@Stevie_V99, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Flashing Black Print Head Icon!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If the black print head icon is flashing and the printer printed a blank page, it indicates a problem with the black print head. Here are steps to troubleshoot this issue:
1. Check Print Head Seating
Ensure that the print head is correctly seated in the printer. Often, reseating it can fix the problem. Follow these steps:
- Turn off the printer.
- Remove the print head and inspect for any damage or debris.
- Reinsert the print head firmly ensuring it’s properly seated.
2. Clean Print Head Contacts
Sometimes, cleaning the print head contacts can resolve connectivity issues:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
- Remove the print head.
- Gently clean the contacts on the print head using a clean, soft, lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
- Allow the print head to dry for at least five minutes.
- Clean the contacts inside the printer’s carriage in the same way.
- Reinsert the print head and connect the power cord.
3. Replace the Print Head
If cleaning does not resolve the issue, the print head might be defective and need replacement. Ensure you are using the correct part number when purchasing:
- Black Print Head for the printer model.
4. Run Diagnostics
Using the HP Designjet System Maintenance utility can help diagnose and potentially resolve other related issues:
- Start the HP Designjet System Maintenance utility.
- Select Maintain printheads, then Align printheads or perform other diagnostic checks.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
