@Jackie11Horse, Welcome to HP Support Community!
We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊
If the orange information light on your HP DeskJet 4100 series printer remains illuminated, it may indicate an alert or error condition that needs attention. Here are some steps to help resolve the issue:
-
Check for Error Messages: Look at the printer's control panel and your computer for any displayed error messages. Follow any instructions provided to resolve the error.
-
Printer Status Check: Ensure that the printer is turned on and all the connections are secure. Check if any other lights are flashing, which may give further clues about the issue.
-
Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have not run out of ink. If needed, replace any empty or defective cartridges.
-
Paper Jam or Paper Path Issues: Open the printer and check for any paper jams. Carefully remove any stuck paper and make sure to check the possible jam locations:
- Input tray
- Output tray
- Cartridge access area
-
Network or Wireless Issues: If the printer is set up on a network or wirelessly, make sure it is properly connected. Check the network setting or reconnect it following the wireless setup instructions via HP Smart or WPS methods.
-
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Turn the printer off using the power button.
- Unplug the power cord and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.
Hope this helps!
