Hi @mjrmotion,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it must be to see the solid orange light and not know exactly what’s wrong, especially when you rely on your printer. Let’s figure this out together.

  • Have you recently updated your macOS or made any changes to the printer setup?
  • Is the printer connected via Wi-Fi, USB, or both?
  • Are there any error messages on the HP Smart app or your computer when you try to print or scan?
  • This could be a compatibility issues with your current OS.

Let's try these steps.

Check Printer Status in HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
  • Look for any error messages or specific warnings related to the solid orange light. It may provide details on what’s causing the issue.

Verify Wi-Fi Connection

  • Ensure the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Press the Information (i) button and the Wi-Fi button simultaneously. This should print a network configuration report, which you can review for errors.

Restart Printer and Mac

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and leave it for 2 minutes.
  • Restart your Mac.
  • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and try to reconnect.

Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for the DeskJet 4155e that are compatible with macOS Sequoia 15.1.1.
  • Update the printer firmware via the HP Smart app if an update is available.

Reset the Printer

  • If all else fails, restore the printer to its factory settings:
    • Hold the Cancel button (X) and the Wi-Fi button together for about 5 seconds until the power button blinks.
    • Reconfigure the printer using the HP Smart app on your Mac

Your printer is compatible with below mentioned OS.
