I have a HP DeskJet 4100e All-in-One Series Printer, serial #[Personal Information Removed].  I have unplugged the printer from the computer and the wall outlet.  I waited then plugged it back in.  After turning it back on it automatically prints the item I printed yesterday and the power button blinks. All other buttons on the control panel are dark.  HELP!!

Hi @Annawese51,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP DeskJet 4100e printer is experiencing an issue with the power button blinking and automatically printing a document from yesterday. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet first, then reconnect it to the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on by pressing the power button.

Reset the Printer:

  • If the power cycle doesn't resolve the issue, try resetting the printer:
    • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
    • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
    • Turn the printer back on by pressing the power button.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve unexpected behavior. You can check for firmware updates using the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app.

Factory Reset (if necessary):

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will erase all settings and preferences:
    • Turn on the printer.
    • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
    • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • While holding down the Cancel button, reconnect the power cord to the printer.
    • Continue to hold down the Cancel button for about 10-15 seconds, until the printer resets.

If these steps do not resolve the blinking power button issue on your HP DeskJet 4100e printer, it may indicate a hardware problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
