Recently received "The Printer Carriage Cannot Move" alert. Completed all steps to resolve, unsuccessful. In addition, when it does print, it appears the printer skips a space in the document from top to bottom.

The "carriage cannot move" message may be caused by blockage of the carriage (perhaps due to a paper jam or other obstruction) or by an issue with the encoder strip that is used by the printer to detect where the carriage is at any given time.

I suspect the latter, since you also mention a gap in printing.  You might try cleaning the encoder strip as shown in the post here.  The encoder strip is fragile, please read and heed the warnings.  Only use water to clean the strip, not alcohol or any other solvents as the fine lines printed on the strip are needed for proper operation of the printer.  Be gentle!
