The printer worked fine until I had to insert a new black cartridge. I have tried 3 black HP cartridges (supplied by HP) . They are the XL versions. The red X appears. The same thing happened  to the previous HP printer which I returned and was replaced with this one!

Try updating the firmware by selecting your current OS. Click here

 

If you have performed all the steps from this document and still having issues, either the cartridges are faulty or the printer itself.
