Deskjet 2130
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When trying to print an image from my Deskjet 2130 I get the following window. At the bottom stands  (marked):  Adjust picture to frame. What does this really mean? Which frame is ment?

My problem is: I want to print a picture exactly in the size which i have chosen in my paint.net program.  And not over the whole size of the paper.  How do I manage that?

Paint.net program is perhaps in control of its setup.  If that is indeed the case, you must make changes to the program's behavior from within the Paint.net software.

If the Operating System can set the default parameters outside of the program itself, then it may be that you can adjust the defaults for which print program is called.

Control Panel > icon view > Default Programs > Set your default programs >

Scroll down, find, and click Paint.net > Choose defaults for this program >

view the defaults and select

Edits:

I just downloaded the paint.net program, installed, and opened a test image.

The program wants to use Windows Photo Viewer when you click Print from within the print.net software.  Too bad.  As of now, I have not found a way to change that unfortunate behavior.

My suggestions is that you adjust the image as desired, save that image, and open the image in MS Paint to set printing parameters and submit for printing.

It appears that you are using the Windows Photo Viewer.

The "Fit to Frame" setting can produce some unexpected results -- this is not the "Fit to Page" option that one might see in Print Preview / Page Setup.

Based on my experience:  The "fit to frame" setting shifts and perhaps slightly magnifies the image -- sometimes a good thing and other times, not-so-much what you want.

I suggest that you consider using another program to print your image, perhaps one of the following:

  • HP Photo Creations
  • Paint

Hi Dragon-Fur! Thanks for the reply. My problem remains. When I click the Print button in my paint.net program opens the first window, named Print image…, below. It belongs, as you presume Windows Photo Viewer. I want the next window, named Print…, to be open instead like in any other program that I use. Where do I fix the association?

Thank you, Dragon-Fur, for your nice work.  You were right from the beginning.

 From paint.net references:

 Print

This command opens the built-in Windows Photo Printing interface so the image can be sent to an attached printer. The Printing Interface presents a simple wizard-based dialog to guide users through the printing process.

I will follow this up on paint.net´s webbsite. Until than I will use the solution you suggested. Thank you for your participation.
