I keep getting thin black/grey and sometimes holographic looking horizontal lines on my images whenever I try to print pictures. It doesn't affect the surrounding areas on the page and when I print colored text it looks normal as well. I've already tried printing from different apps (Microsoft Word/Adobe Photoshop/Google Chrome) and that doesn't help, I've also cleaned the printhead and did a "clean smear" which didn't help either. What should I do?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Does this happen while copying in color?

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Reports or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report.

Let me know if the color looks fine on the report.

Have you tried printing the photos on a photo paper?

Let's align the Printer:

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Printer Maintenance or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Align Printhead.

    An alignment page prints.

    Example of an alignment page

  5. Wait until the page is out of the printer before you remove it.

Let me know if this helps.
