The print head and cartridges are from HP. The cartridges are for set-up. After I installed new print head and set-up cartridges, the error message was " Only one set of instant ink Ready cartridges can be used in printer. Remove and replace with other cartridges". I then installed the print cartridges I purchased last week. These cartridges are from HP but I did try last week to install into the old print head. After installing these cartridges, the error message is, " Only one set of Instant ink Ready cartridges can be used in printer, Remove and replace with other cartridges". I am at a loss unless I need to purchase another complete set of ink cartridges.

Thanks for your continued help.

I have a few questions for clarification:

  • Is your printer enrolled in the Instant Ink program?
  • When you purchased the printhead and setup (Instant Ink Ready) cartridges were there any instructions on installing the printhead.  If so, were there any instructions on performing a reset for the printer?
  • Can you verify the error message does not change if you install the retail cartridges, i.e. it still complains about Instant Ink Ready cartridges?

One thing I would suggest is to remove the cartridges, then unplug the printer for a minute (without turning off the printer).  After a minute plug the printer back in, turn on the printer and install the Instant Ink Ready cartridges when prompted.
