I have a photosmart 7520. When we print today’s crossword using the Google Home link to HP Printer the bottom part of the puzzle is cut off. Surely HP would have tested that their outputs fit on the printable part of the page.!  How can I fix this without having to buy a new printer.

Product introduced in late 2012

Printed content is controlled in the software used to submit that content to the printer.

In addition to the documentation provided in your printer's Website Support,

Suggestions include places to look and things to check / consider:

Try downloading the puzzle to your computer and printing it from the file in which you store the content.

Set the scale (percentage of 100%) and / or set the PDF file to "Fit" the paper you are using.

Or

Snip a picture of the crossword, save it as an image file (.jpg), open the file in photo / image printing software and print.

Or

Check the browser Page Setup, Scale, Preview of the webpage and ensure that your settings are catching all the data.

Chrome used to behave strangely about margins unless the default margins were adjusted.

Perhaps it still behaves in this manner?

For example:

Settings (three vertical dots in the upper right) Print > More Settings > Check / Adjust Margins

You can also try switching on / off the headers / footers in More SettingsOptions

The printer has margin minimums as explained in the Specifications for the printer; the printer depends on the software (for example, the browser) for some of the settings.

Additional settings might be found in the software (used to submit the job to the printer) in within Properties, Preferences, or similarly named access to the print dialog.

It appears you have no idea what I am talking point.  There is no browser involved. I have no idea how to download the puzzle. It is sent to my printer by HP.  As you say, printer content is controlled by the software used to submit the content to the printer. The software in question is on an HP server. There is no software involved on my computer since my computer is turned off when I request the crossword using the HP Printer app linked to Google Home.

Ah, yes, you are correct - I bypassed what you are doing:  Print Apps - printing from application to printer.

No control there, you "get what you get" in that the printer must fall back on its specifications and internal setup for paper, size, margins.

I'd not seen Printables (content printed directly from the printer) for a number of years, not - in fact - since I tested the setup on a Photosmart 7520 some years back.   The newer term is Print Apps

In this instance, I cannot add anything useful to whatever is in any related documentation for your printer.

Apologies for having wasted your time.

If "Google Home" does provide the means to access the crossword in any way other than directly sending the content to the printer, you could likely better control the content.  This is a guess and NOT meant to undermine your desire to print the content without using a computer, phone, or tablet / iPad as a "middle man".

The link you provided regarding the retirement of PrintApps in 2016 has nothing to do with what I am talking about. Google Home was introduced in November 2016.  The following link talks about printing controlled by voice: https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05497637 We are not talking about print apps here. We are talking about a currently available feature provided by HP theat they obviously have not tested properly. Can anyone help?  HP?

More apologies and I will graciously withdraw:   I am not helping, the information provided is not helping, I don't have anything to offer in this situation.  Smiling.

Good Luck.
