When I push the selections on my touch screen, everything works fine until I get to the keyboard, and when I try to enter my password to connect my internet, the letters I select are not working, if I select a "C" it enters the letter above. I have done all the trouble shooting I could find. I dont understand why this is happening, It just started doing this when I had to reconnect my internet/WIFI. And now I cannot connect my printer to my wifi with the keyboard not allowing me to enter the password.

Hi @Bree0806
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for explaining the situation so clearly. That kind of touchscreen misalignment can be incredibly frustrating—especially when it blocks something as essential as Wi-Fi setup.
Let’s walk through a few steps that should help get things back on track:
Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer completely.
- Unplug it from the power source for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and power it on. This helps reset the touchscreen calibration.
Check for Firmware Updates
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your model.
- Download and install the latest firmware for the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw.
- Firmware updates often include touchscreen and UI fixes.
Access Embedded Web Server (EWS)
- If the printer is connected via USB or Ethernet, open a browser and enter the printer’s IP address.
- Navigate to the Network tab and manually configure Wi-Fi settings from there, bypassing the touchscreen keyboard.
Reset Network Settings
- On the printer’s control panel, go to:
- Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings
- This clears any corrupted network configurations that might be affecting the keyboard interface.
Factory Reset (last resort)
- If nothing else works, a full reset may help:
- Go to Setup > Service > Restore Defaults
- This will reset all settings, so be sure to back up any custom configurations beforehand.
Let me know how it goes or if you'd like help with any of the steps above. You're doing everything right by being thorough—let’s get this sorted.
