HP Envy 6052

My brother in law bought this printer in which is was working fine for a while but then suddenly stopped working and gave to me to figure out. I see that every time I have turned on the printer, the orange light turns on as if the paper tray is open when it’s not. I’ve tried everything and even resetting the printer but does not do anything. Looking for the solution, I also came across that the warranty has expired. Does that have to do anything with this problem? What can we do to fix this printer?
