Hi!

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer...  two problems I need help with. I always use 8.5 x 11 cardstock in Tray 1 and 8.5 x 14 cardstock in Tray 2.

1. When I print a legal sized document- and have the setting on the printer set to Auto Select (for which tray to pull from)- it ALWAYS pull from Tray 1, not Tray 2 (which is the legal sized paper. I gave up on having it auto-select the correct tray, so each time I manually choose Legal under paper size- and Tray 2 in order for it to work. How do I get it work correctly without haivng to make these changes? Right now this is what I do...

  First.... Printer Setup/Layout/Advanced/Legal

  Then... (Printer Setup)/Paper/Quality/Paper Source/Tray 2

2. My BIGGER problem is that the Media type or paper type for tray 2 will only let me choose "Plain Paper" not Card Stock. I'm printing full page color documents- so it makes a HUGE difference in the quality when I have it set to Cardstock vs Plain Paper  (under Best at the print quality option). It lets me make this selection for Tray 1 for regular sized paper, but not for legal for some reason.

  * Following the steps listing in the first question, if I change Media Type to Cardstock, I get an error saying..

"There are one or more conflicting settings. One of the conflicting settings is:

    Input Tray- Tray 2

   Media Type- Cardstock

And then it makes me change it back to Plain Paper for it to print. But when I go this on Tray 1/Letter Sized Paper- it works just fine. I put the legal sized paper into Tray 1, and tried it that way- (Legal Size, Tray 1, Cardstock, Best), and it printed correctly. BUT, I want it to work with Tray 2.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Lauren

Hey @higgybears,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you are having some issues with printing on cardstock from Tray 2 of your Officejet 8630 e-All-in-One Printer. The reason why you are having issues is because Tray 2 was designed to be able to handle plain paper only. HP recommends using only plain paper in the second tray. If you switch the paper in Tray 1 when you change jobs, you should not have any issues with the software.
