So I updated my Mac OS to 10.14 this week and then found that my HP printer doesnt seem to like this. For some reason, it will print regular documents okay, but my labels print either incorrectly from Adobe Acrobat, or in full black with only the contrasting picture in color from Preview. See photos below. I have reinstalled the HP drivers for the device. I have replaced the ink cartridges. The documents print fine on my old HP 1020 laserjet, just no color. Is it my printer gone bad coincedentally at the same time as the update or something different. any help is appreciated.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I have gone through your Post and I would like to help
Please ensure your Mac has all the latest updates. You can refer to this Link: https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT201541. Also check if you have the latest Adobe Acrobat version
Next ensure your printer has the latest Firmware. Please refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168
Then Remove and Re-Add the printer back to the Mac printing Queue using Airprint
-
Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
Figure : Example of the Printers & Scanners window
-
Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, and then do one of the following steps.
-
If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up for AirPrint. Click the printer name, click the minus sign
to delete the printer, click the plus sign
, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.
-
If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.
-
-
Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.

Hi KrazyToad, thank you for the advice. I followed all points with same print results. OS is up to date, Acrobat is up to date, print driver is fresh download, no firmware update available. Thank you for trying though.

It looks like you were interacting with @KrazyToad, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out.
Let's try printing the PDF file as an image, you may use the steps available here to print the PDF file as an image.
Let me know how it goes!

Okay, Senan6806, that worked to print from Acrobat. However, the file still does not print correctly from Preview which is the preferred .pdf reader for my wife who will never remember to select advanced>print as image. I would really like to solve the problem, not just have work arounds. Granted, I like the fact that this work around is functional, but the problem needs to be fixed permanently. Any further help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Seanski

Normally this happens when the PDF file contains damaged content such as images or fonts that Acrobat or Preview cannot process during printing. Could you try printing a different PDF file.

Other pdf files print fine from both adobe and preview. I printed to this printer from another mac and had the same problem. Then printed to a different printer from the alternate mac and the file printed fine. Challenge is I have about 36 files that are basically similar and will have the same problem. I am not sure that there is anything broken in my files but the printer for sure seems broken to me.
