When printing from iPhone SE 3rd with current IOS and HPSmart ink subscription over WiFi network, I often receive error message:

HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series

[03АЕ94]

The printer is no longer available.

Try Again

Cancel

Often the print job restarts automatically resulting in two or three copies of the document. This wastes my paper and drives up the print count. Is this a design feature or flaw, and what can I do to correct the situation?

Hi @ScansPartOfPage,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're encountering with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025, where print jobs restart automatically and result in multiple copies, could be due to a network connection issue, printer settings, or even a software conflict. This is not a design feature but more likely a flaw or glitch in the system.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this:

Check Wi-Fi Connection

  • Ensure that both your iPhone and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Any issues with the network connection can cause the printer to go offline, triggering the error message.
  • If the signal is weak, try moving the printer closer to your router or use a Wi-Fi extender.

Reset the Printer’s Network Connection

  • On the printer, go to Settings > Network > Wireless Settings and choose Restore Network Defaults. Then, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network and try printing again.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. HP occasionally releases firmware updates that address connectivity and performance issues. To update:
    1. On your printer, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
    2. You can also check for updates using the HP Smart app on your phone or through your computer.

Reinstall HP Smart App

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your iPhone and then reinstall it. This ensures the app is working with the latest updates and can resolve any configuration issues between your device and the printer.

Check for Print Queue Issues

  • Sometimes a jammed or stuck print job in the queue can cause the job to restart. Go to Settings > Printers & Scanners on your iPhone and check the print queue for stuck jobs. If you find any, clear them and try printing again.

Use the Printer’s IP Address

  • Try manually adding the printer by entering its IP address. This can help bypass any network issues between the printer and your iPhone. Find the printer’s IP address by printing a Network Configuration Page (from the printer settings) and add it manually in the HP Smart app.

Disable "Duplex" or "Multiple Copies" Setting

  • If you are printing multiple copies of a document unintentionally, make sure that the Copy or Duplex Printing setting isn’t set to multiple copies in the printer preferences.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
