How do I turn off the automatic firmware updates to my HP printer. HP updates its firmware a couple times each year in order to make after market ink cartridges unusable. This is the second time this has happened now -- and frankly, I'm kind of ticked off at HP. REALLY ticked.

Hi,
From the printer control panel display, touch the HP ePrint icon , then touch Settings and select Printer Update.
Touch Auto Update and then touch Off to disable automatic updates.

Thanks for your help in turning off the HP auto update. When my aftermarket ink stoped working a few days ago I emailed my vendor and he told me to turn off the auto update, but failed to say how to do it. I too am very upset with the greed of HP. Many years ago Xerox tried to force all of its copier users to use their toner. The government steped in and put an end to that practice. This is the same thing, a deliberated attempt by HP to sabatoge their competitors, and should be stopped.
Does anyone know of any way to reverse the firmware update?
Thanks again.

I did this with my 8620 and it is printing again. You will have to translate the page. You will also need to go into HP Update>settings and select never update. I don't know if this opens you to viruses or if you lose some functionality of your printer but all I want out of mine is that it prints when I want it to. http://www.123inkt.nl/page/hp_firmware.html
