Solved!
Unable to connect Windows 10 laptop to HP 3830 all of a sudden
09-16-2020 03:46 AM - edited 09-16-2020 03:47 AM

This evening I suddenly noticed my printer would only print in black and white. After troubleshooting did not work, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. It got as far as recognizing the Fax, but nothing more. Now I'm not even able to install the printer back to the laptop. I have done all of the troubleshooting one can find on HP a desktop full of HP icons. No luck.
I have the virtual assistant on my desktop. . I have uninstalled and reinstalled.
If I drop down and click add printer and to add the the 3830 it says (driver unavailable). Under the driver event details there is the following message:
Device SWD\DAFWSDProvider\urn:uuid:1c852a4d-b800-1f08-abcd-c8d9d25f2c1f/http://1c852a4d-b800-1f08-abcd-c8d9d25f2c1f/ScanService requires further installation.
The most frustrating part is, I ran one the HP install software (so many to keep track of) and it says it successfully installed but I had to register but HP's site crashed! It's been an endless loop and there is no tech support to contact...
I don't mean to come off overly negative, but this printer was replaced by HP because the prior printer was a lemon (froze up). This one started doing the same within a few months and still does and HP never got back to me when I informed them and now I'm dealing with this new issue on top. I'm not a technical person. I pay money for their printers, computers, and their ink subscription but it's impossible to ever get help for anything

Hi @seanadam,
I'd like to help!
Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
--->Select your HP printer.
--->Select Uninstall.
--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
--->Click on the Drivers tab.
--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
--->Select OK.
--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
--->Close Devices and Printers.
And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from software and drivers page
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
