HP LaserJet MFP M140w Printer

Flashing orange light, hp 123 software says "your printer needs attention" (very helpful). HP print doctor unable to resolve issue. Diagnostic says you have a problem with your account ( I don't) but it gives no other indication. Have re- installed, done a factory reset and updated drivers, nothing works. Spent 3 hours on this nonsense yesterday.

Please help.

Hi @AndyH26,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already gone through several troubleshooting steps, but let's try a few more things to see if we can resolve the issue with your HP LaserJet MFP M140w printer.

  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if you don't see any paper visibly jammed, there might be tiny shreds of paper causing issues. Open all the access doors and check thoroughly.
  • Check Toner Cartridge: Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed and that there is enough toner remaining. Sometimes, low toner levels can trigger error lights.
  • Check Wireless Connection: Make sure your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and that the signal strength is good. You may need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Reset Network Settings: Try resetting the printer's network settings to factory defaults and then reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer and install it. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve various issues.
  • Hardware Check: If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue with the printer.
  • Check for Error Codes: If the printer has a display panel, check if there are any error codes displayed. These codes can provide more specific information about what might be wrong.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
