The 4101 fdw supports Wi-FI direct.
If your desktop systems on the local network all print fine then possibly you should use Wi-Fi direct printing for your mobile devices
For WiFi direct setup see page 40 click here.
This is useful if there is no modem or you do not want to give someone access to your modem but you want to let them print something.

Differences of models
Let me know if you have a flex system (WiFi boosters or repeaters) as the setup is much more complicated.

Good day. Thank you for your response, though it did not help. I understand that "wi-fi" direct is supported, but I am unable to use that. I had never had a problem printing through LAN connected to my wi-fi router. Thankfully, I was able to correct the issue.
The solution from apple worked. I did a hard shutdown of my ipad devices, and phones. Then on powering them back up was able to connect and print to the HP Laser Jet MFP 4101. So then the solution for others may simply be:
1. hard power off of device.
2. Restart device
3. From your app (mail, excel, ...) choose share, select print > select printer > then print.
Easy peasy.
