HP ENVY 6022 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

When I try to print a simple PDF document from my laptop or via the HP Smart app, the printer seems to receive data, but then suddenly an error message appears in the app: "Printer error. The printer has noticed an error. Check if the printer has a problem".

So I check the printer, everything seems fine, there is enough ink and paper in there, it is connected to the wifi, and there in no paper jam inside.

What more can I do? How can I get more information about this supposed problem..?

Hi @deseprateprintr,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you encounter an "Undefined printer error" while trying to print with your HP Envy 6022 printer, it can be frustrating. This error typically means that there's a problem with the printer's communication with your computer or it might be related to a software or driver issue. Here are some steps to help you resolve this problem:

Check Printer Connections:

  • Ensure that your HP Envy 6022 is properly connected to your computer via USB or is connected to your Wi-Fi network if you're printing wirelessly.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve communication issues.

Restart Your Computer:

  • Rebooting your computer can also help reset the connection between your computer and the printer.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupt printer drivers can cause communication problems. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model. Install them on your computer and ensure they are up-to-date.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Sometimes, other software or applications running on your computer can interfere with printing. Try printing after closing all other programs to see if there's a conflict.

Printer Troubleshooter (Windows):

  • If you're using a Windows computer, you can use the built-in printer troubleshooter. Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & Scanners," select your printer, and then click on "Run the troubleshooter."

Printer Utility (Mac):

  • On a Mac, you can open the "Printers & Scanners" settings, select your printer, and click on "Options & Supplies." In the "Utility" tab, you can perform various diagnostic tests.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP website to check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Installing the latest firmware can sometimes resolve issues.

Reinstall the Printer (Windows):

  • If the issue persists, try removing the printer from your computer and then reinstalling it. To do this, go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & Scanners," select your printer, and click on "Remove device." Then, add the printer again.

Check for Paper Jams or Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or hardware issues with your printer that might be causing the error.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the "Undefined printer error" on your HP Envy 6022 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
