macOS 10.15 Catalina

Upgraded OS to Catalina 14.6 (?) and received message that 'malware' would cause problem and printer couldn't print. Then got message from Apple to upgrade again so upgraded OS to Big Sur. Then went to HP and Apple Support Communities and was told to erase software so did. Now cannot get HP Officejet 5510 all-in-one printer back online. Printer worked fine and can still copy, but not printing x 2 months. Per Apple Community, very few printers will work with Big Sur OS. Per Apple Support, I need HP officejet 5510 IP address. But when I put information about serial # of printer and product #, HP refuses to accept product #.

HP Officejet 5510 All-in-One Printer driver for macOS 11 is not available from the HP website or Apple Software Update. However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.

 

NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.
