Hi @Rogelia ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer is stuck on the "USB self-test passed" screen, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
Reset the Printer:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on.
Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates on the HP Support website and follow the instructions to update your printer's firmware.
Disconnect USB Devices:
- If you have any USB devices connected to the printer, disconnect them and see if the printer moves past the USB self test screen.
Reset to Factory Defaults:
- If the printer screen is responsive, navigate to the settings menu and perform a factory reset. This will return the printer to its original state and may resolve the issue. Note that this will also reset all settings and configurations.
Refer to this document: HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer series User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
