When printing from the document feeder only, it prints with vertical line, one third of the page from the right side; when printing in color, the line is medium blue; when printing in black, the line is gray.  When printing from the glass, there is no line at all whether either in color or black/white.  I have gone through all the cleaning functions with no change.  The document feeder seem clean.  Help please!

this is quite weird.  I cleaned everything possible, got no blue residue on the pre-moistened glass cleaner tissues I used.  copied again with scanner, same blue line.  Repeated the exercise with same result; no sign of anything at all picked up by the cloth, but now at least for the moment, the heavy blue line has disappeared.  I hope it is permanent.  Thanks for the help!

Quite often these lines are caused by debris like adhesive from a sticky note. This type of residue is nearly impossible to see but even the tiniest spec can cause light to reflect and result in a defect. One thing I have found helpful is a very strong flashlight held at an angle while viewing the glass as this often makes the debris easier to see.
