Changed low black ink cartridge because I was getting vertical blank lines on my Excel document. Continued to get the same blank lines with the new cartridge. I did a print quality diagnostic and it didn't show any problems. I cleaned the cartridge heads anyway and am still experiencing the same problem. I vaguely remember something similar happening a while ago and I think it may have been a software issue and not an actually print issue. Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this? My printer is connected to my computer through a USB and I am on VPN.

Greetings @cgruyters,
Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are facing an issue with print quality while printing Excel sheets, is that right?
Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.
Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.
Are you able to make a copy on the printer?
What is the OS installed on your computer?
Request you uninstall the printer software on your computer and install it back and check.
If you face the print quality issue while making a copy on the printer, try the steps suggested in this HP article.
Keep me posted.

My OS system is Windows 7.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program.
I have cleaned the print heads.
I have unplugged the printer from the outlet and reconnected it.
I am still having the same issues. The issues occur when I try to make copies, also.

Hello, @cgruyters
I see that you were interacting with @Chimney_83. He is out of office and I'm here to help 🙂
If you are getting the lines even while making copies, then the issue is with the printer hardware and not with the print software. Copy feature is independent of the print drivers and hence if the issue is in the copy, that means the issue could be with the printhead or with the cartridges.
Try the steps listed here to try and fix the issue: http://hp.care/2pbsXtt
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂
