Vista / Win 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide

I'm experiencing the same problem and tried to find solution using HP online chat. After more than an hour installing drivers, it still doesn't work. If you ever find a solution, let me know...

I don't think my problem has to do with Windows but I am using Win7 64 bit. When I print two-sided on my 6500A Plus the first page is fine but the back page is very crooked. Any suggestions?

The likely cause is a duplexer that is not snapped squarely in place.  I would start by removing the duplexer and reattaching it, making sure it is attached securely.  If this does not correct the issue then I would suggest removing the duplexer, opening it and cleaning the rollers with a damp lint free cloth.

I had already tried removing and replacing the duplexer but tried it again. I also opened it up and cleaned the rollers. It is brand new. The printer was just replaced under warranty because of a faulty printhead but I had the same problem with both printers.

I notice some "wiggle" of the rollers inside and assume this is as it should be and that the bar the rollers are on should not be completely fixed. Am I correct?

What else can I do? I need this for business use. Thanks.

I operate Windows 7 and I cannot duplex print.  I have ensured that the printing preferences and printer properties are set for duplex automatic printing.  The duplexer is seen as installed.  When I go to print, and click properties in the print window, nothing happens.  A new window does not appear, so I figured that was because I have the default printing as duplex.  How do I get the duplexer to work?

I recently bought a new computor w/windows 7, the printer works well for the most part, but I ran into a problem when I want to print out forms that are designed to fit on a std page , and it always cuts off the bottom 1/2" of the form.  It doesn't make any difference if I shrink the form it still cuts off the bottom.  I can't find a way to change the margins either.  Thanks for any help you can give.

I can't get manual double-sided printing to work under Windows 7. The printer is an HP LaserJet 3030 (all-in-one) and it is connected by USB cable to a (new) Dell Precision T3500 running Windows 7 64-bit. Double-sided printing works fine when the printer is connected to my old desktop computer with Windows 2000 or my laptop with Windows XP.

The Finishing tab under Printer Properties includes the option to "Print on Both Sides", but checking the box has no effect. All printing comes out one-sided. 

I spent 3 hours on the phone with HP support this week, and gave them control of my system so they could try to make it work, but no luck. (Thanks to the HP people in Costa Rica for trying so hard, though!) They did everything imaginable -- try the latest release of every driver for the printer, remove and reinstall the printer, check all settings, etc.

It seems to me that the Windows 7 drivers just don't support manual double-sided printing.  Has anyone been able to get manual double-sided printing to work in a similar setup? If so, how? (I am aware that one can print odd and then even pages, which doesn't seem to be possible with every application.)

You are not alone with this problem, see one of my posts in Page 24 of this thread and the reply below it from Bob  Headrik.

I have now given up, and either send a long print (say 5 pages or more) to my XP desktop that I was going to retire when I bought my W7 Compaq laptop almost a year ago, or apologise to the world for causing another tree to be felled.

What printer model? What program are you printing from.
