I have an HP Laserjet MFP M227fdw printer. I has worked fine for years however now when I print I get on one side of the page symbols that look like diamonds or hearts equally spaced from top to bottom
I have replaced the toner and the drum and the symbols still appear. I have tried to clean anything that I can
but no luck. If I use the copier feature the symbols still appear
I have tried to use a different device to print to that printer and still get the symbols
I have unplugged the unit from the wall etc and still no luck
Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be appreciated

Hi @KDP224,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Do not worry, I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are facing issues with print quality.
Try updating drivers: Click here
Go to the HP Customer Care Support page.
In the Find My Product and Get Support search box, type your printer name or number (i.e., HP LaserJet 1022 or HP LaserJet M1120), and then click Go.
If prompted, select your printer model from the list. The printer support page displays.
In the Questions or keywords search box, type Network Configuration Page, and then press Enter.
Click the document to open it, and then follow the instructions to print a Network Configuration Page.
NOTE:
You might also find instructions in the printer's user guide. From the printer support page, click User guides, and then click the user guide to open and view it.
If the Network Configuration Page prints normally, but you are still experiencing print quality issues, go to the solution to check the USB connection.
If the Network Configuration Page contains garbled, illogical text, or is missing text or graphics, continue to the next solution.
Click here for the remaining steps.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Those types of symbols often indicate either a driver issue or an electronic corruption on the formatter. If you print a report from the control panel of the printer do you get that issue
