Thank you for the private message with the advice to send the printer in for repair. That was my last product from HP.

Hi @iuejfw9efu,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the "Wait Image" message on your HP Laser MFP 135w typically indicates a problem with the printer's startup process or image processing. Here are some steps to troubleshoot this issue:

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the startup process.
  • Check for Jammed Paper: Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions that could be preventing it from booting properly. Remove any jammed paper carefully.
  • Inspect Cartridges: Make sure the toner cartridges are installed correctly and have no issues. Remove and reinstall them to ensure they are seated properly.
  • Reset to Factory Defaults: If you can access the printer's menu, you might try a factory reset. Since you can't access the menu directly, this might not be an option, but sometimes performing a reset procedure while powering on the printer can help. Refer to the user manual for specific instructions if available.
  • Firmware Update: If possible, check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, issues like these can be resolved with a firmware update. This typically requires accessing the printer's settings via a connected computer.  Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Check Connections: Ensure that all cables are securely connected and that there are no loose connections.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Ok,

but as I have already written, it is not possible to open any menu. When the printer is switched on, "wait image" immediately appears on the display. NO input or actions are possible - not even turning it off. All the other points you write (jammed paper, cartridges) are not helpful because they do not change the problem, nor does turning the printer on and off.

Hi @iuejfw9efu ,

We apologize for the inconvenience, but it seems that the issue persists even after attempting the troubleshooting steps mentioned above.

This might require one-on-one interaction to fix the issue via remote assistance.
