I have the same issue on both of my printers that are doing it. When I go online to printer settings and try to do what is suggested I am told to go to a website called NGINX which then offers to download some form of protection for my printer. It's like it's been hacked or something.

HP Officejet Pr o 9022e neither option worked for me?

The accepted solution stops the printer cycling for the (failed) update - but it means that my firmware is out of date and that the printer will no longer update itself.  There must be a better solution or workaround.

Hi Jadelcsr,

The printer hasn't been hacked.  We have the same situation with OfficeJet Pro multi-function printers that we are troubleshooting remotely today for two different clients.  I seem to recall that this came up when we checked remote access on the day that we installed one of the printers.  If I am remembering correctly, you get this 'NGINX' screen appearing if you try to access them remotely (over the Internet from a different network).  If this is what you are doing, remote control a PC that is on the same network and access it from there - this should work as expected.

I agree. I actually managed to turn off the auto updates on one of the printers but like Moondog3 states, does this mean we no longer get updates for our printers?

Option #1 didn't work for me and Option #2 really isn't helpful if the printer never updates again. Won't this be a problem in the future? I managed to turn off the auto updates through the HpSmart but find it interesting that these problems started happening when I connected to Instant Ink the other day to see how many pages we had been printing lately. Who would lock the printer settings anyway? I didn't do it and I set up both printers.

Did procedure #2 and it did not work.

Alden4.  Look at the number of comments.  That tells me that there is an HP problem with the OfficeJet firmware update or the printer OS.  😡
