I did a simple factory reset and it solved the problem. My printer is a OfficeJet Pro 9010. See the manual for instructions:

If you have a different printer, find the appropriate manual for instructions.

I am getting error code B305ED09 regularly and the “unplug” from wall solution is just not enough as I am not always in same room as printer and should be able to assume printer is working.

I have the OJP 9015

how can I fix this problem successfully and permanently?

thanks!!

I have the same problem which is now occurring daily. I am now shutting off the printer whenever it is not actually in use however this does not necessarily prevent the issue from occuring, it only enables me to print a document after power up and before the error occurs. We need a permanent resoultion other than printer replacement.

It's too bad HP isn't putting out a solution on this. This is what I did after someone else’s suggestion and it solved the problem:

  1. Touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the dashboard on the printer control panel
  2. Select “Setup” and then select “Printer Maintenance”
  3. Select “Restore” and then select “Restore Factory Defaults”
  4. A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.
  5. Select “Restore” to finish the reset process.

I am having the same issue with my HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 printer, can you help?

Fieldgreens' instructions from 3/3/2023 8:59 am seems to have worked. It's been 10 minutes and it hasn't shown the dreaded error message again. Better than unplugging and plugging repeatedly. Thank you.

Update next day: was able to print several documents. Then error message came up again. Back to unplugging & plugging. Had been hoping to keep the printer going for a while, at the very least until the cartridges run out since they're so expensive (No I did not want to be locked into a set amount of pages per month so I've been getting the cartridges at Costco). If that doesn't happen, considering another OJP in the 9000 series that use the same cartridges (mine is 9010) though reviews are not very encouraging (9015 or 9025).

Thank you for the suggestion Fieldgreens. I tried the "reset to default" yesterday as you suggested and so far so good. The printer was locking up within an hour of power up and has not locked up since I performed the reset to default. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am wondering if the automatic updates may be causing the isue and if the problem returns, i will try disabling auto updates and reset again.

HP has offered no suggestion, I suspect it is because the printer is out of warranty but this does not entice me to buy another HP printer.

Thanks again DD

UPDATE 4/21/2023 Still working with no further errors after one month. Reset to default values seems to have worked.
