It’ll be an honor to guide you through the steps needed to identify your concern and/or address your query.
HP Envy Photo 6220 and HP Envy Photo 6230 belongs to the same printer Hp HP Envy Photo 6200 series. The specifications are the same.
The only difference is as follows:
ENVY Photo 6220 goes with HP 804 cartridges
ENVY Photo 6230 goes with HP 303 cartridges
It's just sold in different regions.

I just looked through the specs again but still couldn't find any difference.
Also you mentioned they are using different ink cartridges, but as I believe the specs they are the same as well:
HP Envy Photo 6220 uses HP 303 cartridges
and HP Envy Photo 6230 uses HP 303 as well.
You mentioned the printers are sold in different regions, but they both sold in the UK/same region.
In the HP Shop UK the HP Envy Photo 6220 costs £55 and HP Envy Photo 6230 costs £79

You are right. Both printer models are available in UK. The only difference I could find is the Envy Photo 6220 has Instant Ink trial offer included. Printer specification are the same. For further information, I suggest calling our HP Store phone support.
