HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 Wide Format All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I just ordered a "HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 Wide Format All-in-One Printer". I ordered this because it is one of a very vew that has a 14" glass scanning bed. I scan legal documents. It will be connecting through a USB port on my personal computer. I use a scanning program called "ABBYY® FineReader Corporate - V 14", which uses "WIA" and "TWAIN" interfaces.

1. Can anyone tell me if either or both of these interfaces are used by this printer? This is important.

2. Does anyone use the scanning program I have installed?

Any experiences with scanning would be appreciated.

My environment is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I will some day upgrade to Windows 10.

Hi,

The HP Scan software provided with your printer as part f its Full Feature Software include both WIA and Twain interfaces on Windows, both are supported by the printer.

Twain is supported as listed by the link shared by @TEJ1602 (Twain Version = 1.9).

Although not listed in the specifications, WIA is supported too.

Cheers,

Shlomi

Thank you TEJ1602.

Unfortunately I do not see either "WIA" or "TWAIN' in the list of specifications you included in your reply. The User Guide for Readiris version 17specifies only TWAIN. WIA is not mentioned in the User Guide. I realize that does not mean the printer does not support WIA, but if it did WIA would very likely be mentioned in the manual. Therefore I presume the printer only supports TWAIN.

Am I correct?

The sales person did not know what I was talking about when I asked her about this and other technical specifications.. She had to ask someone else.  She only said that TWAIN V 1.9 was supported. The sales people are going to have to be educated more on the technical specification of the hardware.

I accepted the post from ShlomiL because the comments are correct.

I executed the "HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software" as directed by the documentation that came with the printer. Both the TWAIN and WIA interfaces are supported. I am connected by the USB interface.

I would like to see the Data Sheets for both the 7720 and 7740 printers updated. This question would not have been necessary. I would have more relaxed in making a decision ordering this printer.

An additional point: Everything is working very well. I sometimes wish I had ordered the 7740.

Thank you to everyone for your help.
