HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer

When I go to print a document, it prints all kinds of symbols instead of what I am actually printing. How do I fix this problem? I have tried the Print and Scan Doctor with no luck.

Hi @cursty123456,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 is printing symbols or gibberish instead of the actual document, it could be due to several reasons, such as a driver issue, incorrect printer settings, or a problem with the file itself. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Check Printer Settings

  • Make sure that the printer is set as the default printer on your computer.
  • Check that the correct paper size and type are selected in the printer settings.

Update Printer Drivers

Windows:

  1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Click on your printer, then select Manage.
  3. Click on Printer properties, then navigate to the Advanced tab and check for any updates.
  4. Alternatively, you can visit the HP Drivers & Software page and download the latest drivers for your model.

Mac:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your printer and click Options & Supplies.
  3. Click on Driver to check for updates.

Reset Printing System (Mac Only)

If you are using a Mac, resetting the printing system can sometimes fix the issue:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the list of printers and select Reset printing system.
  3. Re-add your printer and try printing again.

Try a Different File or Program

  • Try printing a different document or using a different application to see if the issue persists.
  • Sometimes, the file format may cause issues; try printing a PDF file or a different document type.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Visit the HP Firmware Update page to see if there are any firmware updates available for your printer.

Perform a Power Cycle

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall, and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor Again

  • Ensure you run the tool as an administrator and allow it to apply any fixes it suggests.

Check Network Connection (If Wireless)

  • If you're using a wireless connection, ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. You can also try connecting the printer directly to the computer via USB and see if that resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
